In Introduction to Communication Solutions, students learn to communicate powerfully when faced with harassment, discrimination, and conflict. This is a one-day version of the YES Institute Communication Solutions™ course [link to CS description page], exploring how students can transform schools and other environments through powerful dialogue.
YES developed this course in 1998 to fulfill requests from counselors in Miami-Dade County Public Schools who sought alternatives to countering harassment and bullying. We now lead this course for student groups from public and private schools at our office, in the schools, or other locations.
Training students in powerful communication begins to dissolve fears that lead to breakdowns, arguments, and violent reactions. Students--including those who have engaged in bullying and harassment--become leaders in creating safe environments for all youth. Participants often report breakthroughs in communication with their parents, families, and friends. Many follow up with the two-day Communication Solutions™ course, and become speakers and workshop leaders for YES Institute.
