The Communication Solutions™ for Students Course

new possibilities for students' voices as instruments of change

  • Provides students with the necessary skills for generating powerful and authentic dialogue. This enables them to communicate with generosity in the face of harassment, discrimination, and fearful reactions from parents and others.
  • Presents a one-day student version of our Communication Solutions™ Course
  • Gives students access to an effective non-confrontational way of transforming schools and including the safety and recognition of all youth.

This course was developed in November 1998 to fulfill requests from counselors who participated in our two day course.  Having experienced the profound impact of using the YES Institute communication model, these counselors requested a one day abridged version for students.

Results of This Course

  • Youth trained in Communication Solutions™ for Students report breakthroughs in communication with their parents and families.
  • Members of the Gay-Straight Alliance at Palmetto Senior High School put on a dramatic performance for over 300 students presenting educational information about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth. Read More here.
  • Watch a short Video clip of an interview with Dr.Luis Ottley, Principal of Ethical Culture Fieldston Middle School, Bronx, New York.
  • The Communication Solutions™ for Students Course also serves as a youth leadership and development course. Youth often follow up with the two day Communications Solutions™ Course and become presenters and workshop leaders for YES Institute.
  • Heterosexual students who have harassed gay youth now show their support and become advocates for gay and lesbian youth.

YES youth leaders conduct the Communication Solutions™ for Students course at our office, in the schools, or in community youth groups.
