Less than 24 hours after submitting our application for accreditation as a continuing education (CE) provider for Florida nurses, YES was approved! This accreditation opens doors for YES as a valuable resource for nurses to receive training on gender, orientation and communication. Read More.

Research shows that the more nurses have an opportunity to interact with members of minority groups, the less discomfort they feel. Workshops offered by the YES Institute provide effective clinical techniques and resources, as well as teaching a model for generating dialogue that begins to dissolve fears and produce actions to protect all youth.

Nursing Connections

Connie Barden, co-founder and Board Member of YES Institute, is a Past President of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Connie works as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist at Mercy Hospital in Miami and has been a critical-care nurse for 26 years. In 1999, she was elected to the National Board of Directors of AACN. Asked to submit her candidacy for President, Connie ran as the first openly-lesbian candidate of this organization and was voted in as President-Elect in July of 2002. Read More.
