By reaching out to public agencies, we provide education to the dedicated members of our community who are already working for youth.

We have worked with (in alphabetical order) Adelante, Agape Family Ministries, American Red Cross, Switchboard of Miami, CHARLEE Homes for Children, Fanm Ayisen Nan Miyami, Fellowship House, Job Corps, Kristi House, MACtown, Miami Bridge, STEPS, Triangle Foundation, TwentySomethings, URGENT Inc, and Key Biscayne.

Adelante in El Paso, TX

Adelante is an organization in El Paso,Texas, with a mission closely resembling that of YES Institute. At their request, we shared information about our models and in 2000 went to El Paso to make a presentation to their general membership and board of directors. Read More.

Agape Family Ministries

YES presented an in-service workshop for Agape Family Ministries. Agape works with women in the justice system who are in need of rehabilitation and family support services.  Read More.

American Red Cross, Miami Branch

The Miami branch of American Red Cross expressed interest in future trainings after a successful presentation to the Diversity Team. Read More.

Switchboard of Miami

When Connie and Martha began YES, Switchboard was the agency that offered space for meetings in the first year. In May, we hosted 12 Outreach Educators for a full-day workshop.  Read More.

CHARLEE Homes for Children

Over 50 youth and staff at CHARLEE Homes for Children uncovered common myths about gender and sexual orientation in an interactive presentation.  Read More.

Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami

Martha Fugate was recognized by Haitian Women of Miami for “Outstanding leadership; strong commitment in creating dialogue and a safe world for all young people. You give hope and a voice to young people everywhere.” Chapo Ba! (Hats Off).  Read More.

Fellowship House

Fellowship House currently serves 600 members and is an established psycho-social rehabilitation center. YES speakers opened dialogue with both staff and residents in English ( Read More ) and Spanish.  Read More.

GLOW

YES first participated in the Gays and Lesbians Offering Warmth (GLOW) Back To-School Project in 2000. Read More.

In 2001, Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami (Haitian Women of Miami), was the recipient of the year’s donation. Read More.

Job Corps

YES Institute speakers visited Job Corps after many requests from both faculty and students to discuss sexual orientation with trainees. Read More.

Kristi House

Amy Beaulieu, Program Director for Kristi House, invited YES to make a presentation to their staff. They are a one-stop resource for children who are victims of sexual abuse. Read More.

MACtown

We led 2 training workshops for staff at MACtown, a non-profit organization serving adults with developmental disabilities.  Read More.

Miami Bridge in Miami, Florida

Miami Bridge is the oldest youth shelter in Miami-Dade with locations downtown and in Homestead. The Bridge is among the few places in South Florida where homeless gay and lesbian youth can turn to for shelter. We conducted educational workshops for the youth activity counselors and initiated dialogue with youth residents. Read More.

STEPS in Pembroke Pines, Florida

Teenagers at the STEPS (Success Through Effective Problem Solving) outpatient center engaged in dialogue.  Read More.

Triangle Foundation in Detroit, Michigan

In early December 2002, Martha Fugate and Joseph Zolobczuk conducted a Communication Course for the Triangle Foundation in Detroit, Michigan. The Triangle Foundation is a statewide civil rights, advocacy, and anti-violence organization.  Read More.

URGENT Inc. in Overtown, Florida

URGENT Inc. sent in an emergency call for YES to train their summer camp counselors. Read More.

The Village of Key Biscayne, Florida

In 2001 and 2002, YES facilitated dialogue and workshops for the Village of Key Biscayne on how they can make their community safe for all youth. Participants included the Vice Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Rescue Chief, and other leaders from the Village Council, Police Department, Recreation Department, Athletic Club, and local schools.  Read More.
