The frequency of harassment and bullying around gender and orientation continues to raise concerns about student safety. Taunts of “Faggot!” “Dyke!” and “That’s so gay!” are ubiquitous at every level--from elementary to high school. The link between these bullying incidents and school violence is spurring educators to look for solutions.
YES Institute is a dynamic presence in every school system that chooses to utilize us as a resource. We work with students and educators in both public and private schools throughout South Florida and the U.S., giving them access to speaking powerfully on gender and orientation, and creating school environments that are both safe and educational.
“Fantastic opportunity to engage in meaningful and open dialogue about issues affecting our campus. I learned how little I know about gender and ‘transgender,’ and steps I can take to be an effective resource for students.” - Teacher, Alexander Dreyfoos High School, West Palm Beach
