Parents with youth who identify as gay or transgender are often paralyzed by shame, uninformed on the topics of gender and orientation, and unable to respond appropriately to their children. Many parents and family members feel isolated and afraid, and typically have no immediate access to information or resources.

We encourage parents who would like more information about gender and orientation to participate in our educational courses. All of our courses are interactive, and provide participants an opportunity to authentically share their feelings and concerns. Simply having the courage to begin this conversation is the first step toward finding solutions that keep youth safe and families united. Youth are also invited to participate in our courses, either with their parents or on their own. Principios Esenciales de Orientación is available for Spanish-speaking parents and family members.

Youth who identify as gay or lesbian, and rejected by families, are 8 times more likely to attempt suicide.

If you would like an individual consultation to discuss your concerns as a parent, please contact Eva Leivas-Andino via email or 786-301-3940. Eva is a Cuban-American mother with a son who identifies as gay, and she is committed to being a resource for parents who are currently struggling around these topics.
